Greetings All:
I hope this post finds each of you healthy, happy and ready to enjoy the summer. As summer approaches, I think about Erin and how she will be going through the the final stages of pregnancy during the hottest part of the year. I can't imagine that she will complain about the heat, but if the heat does become unbearable, it can be quickly resolved with a hot fudge shake from Culvers. This seems to be the only craving that Erin has had. Speaking of hot fudge shakes from Culvers, if you are in the area and feel lead to bring a hot fudge shake to Erin; there is a good chance that the baby may be named after you.
Today marks the 26th week of our pregnancy. Some characteristics of the baby's development for this week are the nerves in baby's ears are better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear our conversations. If this is true, then the little guy can can also hear my singing. That can not be a good thing for him! If the sound of my singing scares me, I can only imagine what it will do to him. I wonder if he can put his hands over his ears to drown out the noise?
Size wise, he is about as big as a English hothouse cucumber (I love the food comparisons). He weighs about 1 and 2/3 lbs. and is starting to put on baby fat. He measures approximately 14" in length. However, according to our last two doctor visits, Erin is measuring big for this stage of her pregnancy, so we are not sure these weights and measurements actually apply to the little, errrr big guy.
We interviewed our first day care this week and will soon be looking for a pediatrician. As a future parent I find it amazing how personal this process becomes. The protective insticnt kicks in and I find myself wondering if I will be able to trully trust anyone to care for him. Do any of you parents have thoughts or suggestions as we continue our search for day care and a pediatrician?
Finally, we started to put the baby's room together. There are many things to consider when putting the room together: theme, colors, crib placement, safety, organization, etc. We have the colors picked out and painted his room this week. The theme is coming together and we still have to figure everything else out. Out of all the rooms in the new house, his room is going to be the first room completed. I'm sure this is the way it should be.
As we approach the end of the second trimester and and near the third trimester, I ask for continued prayers for Erin and the baby. Up to this date, both have been doing great. Praise God!
Grace and peace be with each of you!
Blessings,
Tim and Erin
